A JAPANESE SPEAR 'HOKO',
circa 1840, with straight 12 3/4in. blade, integral 4in. side-blade curving away from the tip, the tang fitting into a plain brass socket with moulded band and in turn fitted to an 85in. wood shaft, full banded with iron rings except for the butt fitted with a moulded brass ferrule, the throat socket with painted inventory number '2805' (possibly John Woodman Higgins collection, see previous lot), 98in. overall
